2018- A Year of Transition

2018 will be remembered as a year of volatility and uncertainty. Given the events of the past year, both man-made and environmental, there isn’t an industry or society that isn’t adapting to a ‘new normal’. It has also changed companies’ expectations of technology especially when it comes to examining the value of vendors’ solutions.  It doesn’t matter if the conversation was around Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Virtual Reality – they were all held to a new benchmark: How will this make our workplace smarter and more predictable?

I suspect this question will only gather momentum in 2019 as we’re seeing a record number of innovations around ‘smart’ devices utilizing previously inaccessible information to drive new processes that increase productivity, efficiency, and minimize costs. Pi has a great roadmap for 2019. One of our big enhancements will be RF Plus™ automatically scheduling and managing materials across a wide spectrum of functions in response to changing conditions on the shop floor.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, here are Portable Intelligence’s memorable moments of 2018.
